Il flautista, cresciuto a Rödermark vicino a Francoforte sul Meno, si approccia al flauto presso il Dr. Hoch’s Konservatorium di Francoforte per poi iniziare gli studi alla Musikhochscule di Francoforte. Dopo aver completato il diploma di livello intermedio, Jürgen Franz continua la sua formazione con Jean Claude Gérard presso la Musikhochscule di Stoccarda, dove si laurea col massimo dei voti ed eccellenza. Ulteriori studi portano Jürgen Franz a perfezionarsi con Maxence Larrieu a Ginevra e con James Galway a Lucerna.
Jürgen Franz inizia la sua carriera orchestrale con la Bielefelder Philharmoniker, per poi vincere la posizione di 1° Flauto presso la Sinfonieorchester di Stoccarda. Dall’agosto 2000 Jürgen Franz è membro della NDR Elbphilharmonieorchester di Amburgo, oltre a collaborare come ospite con orchestre come i Berliner Philharmoniker e la Gewandhausorchester di Lipsia. Tra le altre, Jürgen Franz, ha suonato regolarmente come flauto solista con l’Orchestra del Teatro alla Scala di Milano ed è stato membro dell’orchestra del Festspiele di Bayreuth. Sempre in ambito orchestrale è stato nominato flauto solista dell’orchestra “Simfonica Toscanini” da Lorin Maazel. Produzioni radiofoniche e incisioni di CD, oltre a numerosi concerti da solista, lo hanno portato ad esibirsi in Francia, America, Giappone, Cina, Ungheria, Estonia e Svizzera. Ha inciso per Tyxart CD da solista come “Flötentrios aus Frankreich” e “European recital” e per l’etichetta Chant de Linos, le Sonate per flauto e basso continuo di J-M. Leclair assieme a Maxence Larrieu. Di recente pubblicazione è l’album “The poetic flute”. In veste di compositore Jürgen Franz ha scritto “Bohème Fantasy” per flauto e pianoforte, pubblicata da Vigor Music. Jürgen Franz si esibisce nei più importanti Festival flautistici del mondo e ha partecipato come membro di giuria in concorsi internazionali in Cina, Giappone, Italia e Francia. Attualmente Jürgen Franz è professore di flauto presso la Musikhochscule di Amburgo e tiene masterclass in U.S.A., Brasile, Giappone e Cina. Jürgen Franz è ‘Haynes Artist’, suona su un flauto d’oro 19.5K realizzato dalla W.S. Haynes Flutes, famosa casa produttrice di flauti americana.
The flautist, who grew up in Rödermark near Frankfurt am Main, came to the Dr. Hoch`s Conservatory in Frankfurt and then began his studies at the Frankfurt University of Music. After completing his intermediate diploma, Jürgen Franz switched to Jean Claude Gérard at the Stuttgart University of Music, where he graduated with the grade “very good”. Further studies led Jürgen Franz to Maxence Larrieu in Geneva and to James Galway in Lucerne.
Jürgen Franz began his orchestral career as a member of the Bielefeld Philharmonic. He then took up the position of 1st flutist with the Stuttgart Philharmonic and since August 2000 Jürgen Franz has been a member of the NDR Elbphilharmonieorchester Hamburg. In addition to guest appearances with orchestras such as the Berliner Philharmoniker, among others, Jürgen Franz played regularly as a solo flutist with the orchestra of La Scala in Milan. He was also a member of the orchestra of the Bayreuth Wagner Festival. Jürgen Franz was also appointed solo flutist of the “Symphonica Toscanini” orchestra by Lorin Maazel. Radio and CD productions as well as numerous solo concerts have taken him to France, America, Japan, China, Hungary, Estonia and Switzerland.
Solo CD recordings such as flute trios from France, European recital and sonatas by J. M. Leclair with Maxence Larrieu have been released by the Tyxart and Chant de Linos labels. The album “the poetic flute” is the flutist’s last release. Jürgen Franz also wrote the “Bohème Fantasy” for flute and piano which is published by “Vigor Music”.
Jürgen Franz appears at the most important flute festivals around the world and has acted as a jury member in international competitions in China, Japan, Italy and France. Jürgen Franz is professor of flute at the Hamburg University of Music and Theater. He also gives master classes in the USA, Brazil, Japan and China. He is also W.S. Haynes Flutes Artist and plays on a 19.5k gold flute made by the famous American flute manufacturer.
